Communications Lead

Location: Flexible (Office based minimum 2 days per week + location work)
Salary: £28,000 – £38,000 (dependent on experience)
What you'll be doing
As our Communications Lead, you’ll be the voice of Planet Protection across multiple channels, creating content that educates the market about ethical insurance while documenting real environmental impact. Your primary focus will be article research and writing, LinkedIn thought leadership, managing both company and founder personal brands through weekly articles, industry commentary, and strategic social content for Gwilym’s growing profile as a sustainability expert. You’ll also handle our company blog with educational content, case studies, and impact stories that demonstrate how premium pounds create positive change.
A significant part of your role involves visual storytelling through Instagram, particularly documenting conservation projects we support through field visits and interviews with environmental pioneers. You’ll support our ongoing fundraising efforts with compelling investor communications, handle PR and media relations, and pitch stories that position Planet Protection as the thought leader in ethical insurance. Week to week, you might interview clients for case studies, create social content from conservation project visits, draft partnership announcements, and respond to media enquiries about sustainable finance trends.

- Travel to document conservation projects and environmental initiatives where required.
Who We're Looking For
A natural storyteller passionate about sustainability and environmental impact. You’ll be skilled in video shooting and editing, confident with DSLR cameras for both stills and video, and knowledgeable about LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube best practices. We need someone organised and flexible who can work independently while collaborating closely with founders, comfortable switching between creating content for Gwilym’s personal platforms and building Planet Protection’s company brand.

This role offers a clear progression path within a rapidly growing mission-driven start-up. You’ll start by supporting the founders establishing Planet Protection’s voice and building our content foundation. As we grow, you’ll have the opportunity to take increasing ownership of external communications strategy, developing signature content series and leading major campaign launches.

Commercial Insurance Account Executive

What you'll be doing
As Commercial Insurance Account Executive you will play a key role in Planet Protection’s mission to transform insurance into a force for good. This hybrid sales and service role ensures smooth onboarding of new clients, while providing ongoing support to existing clients across our ethical insurance products. You’ll be the bridge between prospects, clients, insurers, and our internal operations, ensuring every interaction reflects our values of transparency, care, and sustainability.
We are an early-stage start-up, so this role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-moving, evolving environment. You’ll need to be comfortable wearing multiple hats, taking initiative, and helping shape how we grow.

Key Responsibilities
Client Onboarding & Service
- Guide new clients through the onboarding process, from policy set-up to first premium.
- Deliver excellent service to existing clients, handling queries with professionalism and empathy.
- Maintain accurate client records in CRM and compliance systems.
- Support renewal cycles, mid-term adjustments, and policy servicing.
Sales Support
- Respond promptly to inbound enquiries and qualify prospects.
- Assist in preparing proposals, quotations, and presentations.
- Nurture new business opportunities under the guidance of the COO.
- Track pipeline activity and contribute to monthly sales reporting.
Insurer Relationships & Portals
- Build and submit quote applications via insurer portals, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Liaise with insurers to negotiate terms and update clients on progress.
- Develop strong working relationships with insurer partners to ensure smooth processing of business.
Collaboration & Process
- Work closely with underwriting, compliance, and marketing teams to ensure a seamless client journey.
- Identify opportunities to improve onboarding and service processes.
- Uphold Planet Protection’s ethical standards in all client communications.
Who We're Looking For
We’re looking for someone with a strong foundation in customer service, account management, or sales, ideally with experience in insurance or financial services. You’ll need to be comfortable working with insurer portals and managing relationships across multiple insurance providers, demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills throughout. Your natural organisation and attention to detail will be crucial for handling sensitive client information and maintaining accurate records in our fast-moving start-up environment.
The ideal candidate will be adaptable and proactive, capable of building strong relationships with both clients and insurance partners whilst navigating the complexities of commercial insurance. We’d particularly value experience in commercial insurance broking or underwriting, along with knowledge of FCA compliance requirements. Most importantly, you should share our passion for sustainability, ESG principles, or ethical business practices, as this role is fundamental to delivering our mission of transforming insurance for a sustainable future.

As an early-stage startup moving from broker to MGA status and eventually vertically integrated insurer, you’ll have the opportunity to develop expertise across the entire insurance value chain.
