Our Ethical Framework

We aim to work with insurers or underwriting partners with a reduced exposure to fossil fuels, weapons, and detention industries. To inform these decisions, we draw on publicly available research, and other independent research.Some of the research assesses insurers’ involvement in high-carbon or contentious sectors. These datasets are currently the most comprehensive comparative sources of their kind, although they remain incomplete and subject to change. We review these datasets annually to ensure we are working from the most up-to-date information when deciding on changing our placement strategy.

Because insurer disclosures are still limited, and certain classes of risk have few ethical alternatives, we cannot guarantee zero exposure. Our approach is to place business, wherever commercially and operationally viable, not to claim perfection. Where no insurer meets our criteria, we are fully transparent with clients about the limitations of the current market.

Most policyholders have little visibility into where their premiums are ultimately invested or what industries their insurers may underwrite. Whilst we cannot provide transparency on where insurer invest their money we can provide transparency on where we invest our money. 5% of our commission from the sale of each policy is donated or invested into ethical practices. Beyond Offsetting

While we consider ourselves a nature-positive organisation and support environmental initiatives, we do not rely solely on offsetting gestures such as tree-planting or charitable donations to address environmental impact.
